Instead of buying the detector you can tag along with other people. I made about 10 runs like that. Multiplayer will tell someone os looking for a freighter. Just go to space and pulse to the player. You will find his discovered freighter and will be able to board and run without the transmitter.When you use the receiver and locate the next derelict, put the receiver in your personal refiner before exiting your ship on the derelict. That way the game won't delete it. Run the derelict and return to the space station to sell off the logs. Then you can pull the receiver out of the refiner and use it again. Rinse and repeat.
